Who are your customers?

In 20 years of working with hundreds of clients from the self-employed to global manufacturers with multiple locations on many continents we have been amazed that so few really understand who their customers are.
So where do you start to identify your customers?
Not everyone is your customer. This is a fundamental, because whilst everyone could possibly buy your product or service not everyone is interested.
Your task for today is to think about the customers you already have and make a list of them. Who are they? How old are they? What do they look like? Why do they buy your product or service? Put them into groups and then rank them in order of importance.
